Editorial Internships
Cincy Magazine is looking for interns who want to gain practical experience in writing, editing, interviewing, fact-checking and professional events. Typical duties are and will be divided as followed:
- 25% Fact-checking
- 50% Writing and Interviewing
- 20% Editing
- 5% Event attendance
These duties are dependent on an intern’s strengths and interests. For example, if an intern is interested in photography, time will be provided for developing that skill. If the editors notice a talent for copy editing, the intern will be provided more opportunities to do so.
Interns should be comfortable working on several projects at once. Cincy publishes Cincy Magazine, NKY Magazine, Dayton Magazine and many custom publications. Interns work on all of these publications, so all applicants should have good time management skills.
Editorial internship requirements:
- Junior standing or higher.
- A major in communications, English, journalism or marketing/PR preferred.
- Knowledge of AP Style preferred but not required.
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with Adobe InCopy a plus.
- Comfortable using Mac computers.
- Strong social skills.
- Interns must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, though 20 hours is preferred.
All Cincy internships are unpaid, but parking is reimbursed.
Start date and end date are flexible based on school schedule.

Digital Marketing/Design Internships
Cincy Magazine is seeking Digital Marketing/Social Media Interns to assist the Digital Team with magazine-related marketing, events and sales promotion.
Specific duties may include:
- Assist in development and distribution of emailers
- Work on social media marketing
- Optimizing and uploading magazine content to web

- A major in Communications, Marketing, or Design.
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign & Photoshop and HTML & CSS helpful but not required
- Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Comfortable using Mac computers.
- Strong social skills.
- Interns must be able to work a minimum of 10 hours a week, though 20 hours is preferred.

Marketing Internship
Cincy Magazine is seeking Marketing & Event Interns to assist the Marketing and Events Team with magazine related marketing, events, and sales promotion.
- 10-20 hrs/week
- Days to be determined
- Minimum of 3 months consistent working schedule
- Parking will be reimbursed
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitating and distributing sales promotion materials (mail, email, social media, and in person)
- Supporting the Events Manager in the execution of overall promotion and event coordination.
Specific duties may include:
- Assist with creation and updating of advertising promos (promos, letters, rate cards)
- Assist with event planning and preparation
- Assist in development and distribution of emailers
- Work on social media marketing
- Work on magazine websites by uploading magazine content to web
- Assist with creation and placement of web banner ads
- Assist in updating online events calendar
- Assist with general office administration and other tasks as needed
Marketing Internship requirements:
- College sophomore-level or higher, majoring in Business, Communications, or Marketing
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills
- Must have the ability to handle a number of projects at once
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign helpful but not required

Audience Development Internship
Cincy Magazine is seeking an Audience Development Intern to assist the Marketing and Circulation team with magazine-related marketing, events and sales promotion.
- 10-20 hrs/week
- Days to be determined
- Minimum of 3 months consistent working schedule
- Parking will be reimbursed
Specific duties may include:
- Assist in the development and distribution of circulation emailers
- Develop creative methods to reach new and existing subscribers
- Assist in creating new circulation software manual
- Maintain print and digital subscriber database
- Contribute to marketing efforts for circulation
- Assist with creation and placement of web banner ads
- Assist subscribers and other customer service responsibilities

Interns work on all of these publications, so good time management skills are necessary.

- Ability to learn quickly and display skills effectively
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong social skills
