Randy Freking has written The Real Employee
Handbook: What You Need to Know — and What Your Boss Won't Tell You, to
help employees learn what their rights are in the workplace. Freking is
the managing partner of Freking & Betz, which specializes in
employment law.
Seven partners at Peck, Shaffer &
Williams LLP have been selected for the 2013 edition of The Best Lawyers
in America. The lawyers, all honored for work in public finance law,
are Dirk M. Bedarff, John W. Fischer III, John Weld Peck, Roger L.
Peterman, Glendon B. Pratt, Dennis G. Schwallie and Brenda A. Wehmer.
Two attorneys in the Cincinnati office of
Roetzel & Andress have been selected for The Best Lawyers in
America. Honored were Brian J. Augustine, who specializes in litigation,
and Eric G. Bruestle, who focuses on labor and employment and estate
matters. Bruestle is the partner in charge of the local office.
Kevin Ghassomian has joined Dinsmore in the
family wealth planning practice group. He has been involved in many
civic projects including co-founding the Bacchanalian Society and
helping to establish Wills for Heroes, a pro bono legal clinic for first
responders.
The Christ Hospital's Mechanical Heart Assist
Device Program has been recognized as a Gold Standard Center by
Thoratec, a leading developer of therapies for patients with heart
failure. The notice means Christ has achieved top 20 percent status in
quality and outcomes metrics defined by the company. Metrics include
length of stay, readmission rates and best practices in post-implant
communication and outreach. Christ is one of the few non-transplant
centers implanting ventricular assist devices (VAD) in the U.S. VAD
therapy is used to treat patients with heart failure whose hearts can no
longer effectively pump blood on their own.
Kenneth Mook has been named medical director
of Gateway Rehabilitation Hospital in Florence. He has been on the
faculty at the University of Louisville since 1999 and has served as the
residency director of the school's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
program.
Becky McGilligan has joined The Christ
Hospital Physicians — Primary Care at the hospital's Outpatient Center
in Anderson Township. The internal medicine physician was chief resident
in The Christ Hospital residency program after earning her medical
degree from Florida State. She is a certified provider through the North
American Menopause Society.
Ruth Lavigne, a radiation oncologist, has
joined The Christ Hospital Cancer Center in Mount Auburn. Her research
on depression in breast cancer patients has been presented
internationally. Lavigne, who graduated from Walnut Hills High School
and Miami University with degrees in French and Italian literature,
earned her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of
Medicine. She also has an MBA in international business.
Sunit Gogia has joined Fort Washington
Investment Advisors as a senior equity research manager focusing on
technology companies. He worked in a similar capacity at Morningstar and
is a former program manager and software developer from Microsoft. He
earned an MBA from Columbia University.
Total Quality Logistics, the Cincinnati-based
trucking transportation broker, has been named to Inc. magazine's list
of America's fastest-growing private companies for the eighth time in
its 15-year history. TQL, which employs more than 2,000 people in 15
locations, plans to add approximately 1,000 employees over the next
three years.
