If you enjoy working with flowers, but don’t have your own garden, then Dayton’s Cox Arboretum has a deal for you. Always on the lookout for volunteers, the Arboretum makes it easy to choose a day and specialty.

“Everyone who visits the park is touched in some way by the handy work of our volunteers,” says Janet Metter, the volunteer coordinator.

Some options that don’t require any particular difficult labor include:

Edible Landscape Day • 6:30 p.m. Mondays. Propagate, plant and maintain herbs and companion plants in the Edible Landscape Garden.

African Violets Day • 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays or Thursdays. Propagate and maintain a wide selection of African violets.

Perennial Garden Day • 9 a.m. Tuesdays. Plant and maintain the Stonewall Perennial Garden.

Herb Day • 9 a.m. Wednesdays. Propagate and grow a wide assortment of herbs.

Scented Geraniums Day • 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Propagate and grow a wide variety of scented geraniums.
