From rides and slides to concerts and new park designs, local amusement parks will give Cincinnati a lot of thrills this summer.

In the 2010 season, Kings Island will become home to the world’s favorite beagle. That’s right – Snoopy and his Peanuts friends will be moving the big red doghouse to the kids’ park for “Planet Snoopy.” The park update includes four children’s roller coasters, a live stage and meet-and-greets with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the top dog himself.

Kings Island is also the place for live music. Some upcoming shows include the gospel Joyfest concert (June 19), Spirit Song Christian music concert (July 8-10) and the Sean Hannity Freedom Concert (Aug. 7), which features performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Charlie Daniels. The Boy Scout Camp-O-Ree (Aug. 13-14) and Run Kings Island (Aug. 15) are also in the mix for the season.

To beat the summer heat, head for The Beach Waterpark. It has a slew of slides, but also hosts fun events like Club Aqua teen nights, Surf Rockin’ Fridays, Hot Salsa Saturdays and Miller Lite’s Reggae Fest.

The fun doesn’t stop there. At Coney Island, golf, swimming, slides and classic theme park rides make for exciting adventures. The park plays host to events such as Summerfair, the premier arts and crafts festival in the Tristate. Coney also holds the canoe and kayak festival Paddlefest (June 24-26) and the annual LaRosa’s Balloon Glow (July 3), which includes music, family entertainment and Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks.
