Corghi Moves to West Chester

Premier Automotive Service Manufacturer Expands

New products, increased sales and the need for more support services have resulted in the expansion of Corghi USA at a new location in West Chester.

In 2009, Corghi USA, the wholly owned subsidiary of the famed Italian automotive service equipment manufacturer, consolidated its distributor network into one facility in Fairfield. This year they have moved to a new, larger and more efficient location in West Chester.

Corghi products are recognized as the premier equipment in automotive, aviation, agriculture and motorcycling tire and alignment service machinery.

Repair and maintenance equipment is available in a wide range of models with varying capabilities. Corghi is best known for its "top-of-the-line" product range akin to the performance cars that they are designed to service. Corghi produces the Ferraris and Corvettes of tire changing, balancers and wheel alignment equipment used by auto and tire manufacturers, racing teams, and service centers. Now, all the machines sold in the U.S. come through the facility in West Chester.

Top of the Line

Founded in 1954 by brothers Erminio and Remo Corghi at Correggio in the industrial north of Italy, the company was responding to requests from technicians for a better tire-changing machine.

Well known for manufacturing bird calls for hunters, the Corghi brothers had the manufacturing capabilities to build what they designed. Their innovative thinking revolutionized the rapidly growing auto service business.

In 1958, Corghi introduced their first Tire Balancer. In 1962, they introduced the Rim Clamp tire changer that greatly increased efficiency and safety for mechanics.

In 2001, Corghi introduced the first totally "Touchless" tire changer that further isolated the technicians from the dangers of tire mounting and dismounting operations.

Today, Corghi offers the Artiglio Master Code, a tire changer that lifts the assembly from the floor, places it on the table and dismounts the tire from the wheel without the technician physically engaging in the process. It is a safer, cleaner and more productive process, and rewrites the standards for service equipment.

Wheel alignment machines were first offered in 1963, and in 2012 the company introduced the most advanced piece of technology in this competitive arena with the REMO Clampless machine. Using laser measurements of the entire vehicle, the REMO eliminates the cumbersome process of clamping measuring equipment on the vehicle and allows the wheel alignment to be checked within 90 seconds.

The time saved in the process is tremendous; the technician can complete the entire alignment on the vehicle in less time than it took to hang the measuring devices with the older machines; less time per vehicle allows for more production by each mechanic.

ONE STOP Support

The West Chester facility stocks more than 400 machines that are ready to ship and has 200 more on order. It carries a full line of repair parts, supports sales in the millions of dollars and employs 15.

This is three times larger than the private distribution network the company used for 22 years in Akron prior to consolidating as a company owned entity in 2008 and moving to Fairfield. With the purchase of the building in West Chester, Corghi is broadcasting the intention to grow its business through the sales of wheel and tire service machinery for the automotive, aviation, agricultural and motorcycling industry.

The Corghi USA team will have displays at the upcoming SEMA (Specialty Equipment Manufacturers' Association) and the Performance Racing Industry trade shows that service the high performance automotive enterprises.

Corghi is the exclusive tire changing and balancing equipment used in Formula One, MotoGp, Superbike Racing and the World Rallye Championship.
